Short version

Wakeless has no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no server of its own. Your rides stay on your iPhone and in your own iCloud Drive. We never receive them. Two outside services are involved: RevenueCat, if you buy the unlock, and OpenStreetMap, which draws the maps.

Your rides

Ride logs come straight from your board to your phone over the board’s own WiFi. Everything the app works out from them, including GPS tracks, speed, battery readings and your battery’s serial number, is read and stored on the phone. If iCloud Drive is on, the files are kept in the Wakeless folder of your iCloud Drive, where Apple looks after them and your other devices can see them. If it’s off, they stay on the phone, and deleting the app deletes them.

Your settings

Your units, theme, language, the board’s WiFi name and password, and a count of your syncs are saved on your phone. The sync count is a small file beside your rides, so it follows you through iCloud Drive. None of this reaches us.

Local network and WiFi

The app asks to join your board’s WiFi and to use the local network so it can talk to the board. It only talks to the board there.

Maps

The maps are OpenStreetMap tiles, downloaded from OpenStreetMap’s servers when you open a map. Those requests carry your IP address and show which area of the map you’re looking at, as any map does. The ride itself is drawn on your phone and isn’t sent. See the OpenStreetMap privacy policy.

Purchases

The App Store handles payment, and we never see your card or Apple Account details. The app uses RevenueCat to check that a purchase is yours and to restore it. RevenueCat knows your purchase history under an anonymous ID the app makes up, with no name or email attached. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy. If you ask Apple for a refund, RevenueCat tells Apple, for that purchase only, whether it was delivered, so Apple can decide; by buying in the app you agree to this.

Children

Wakeless isn’t aimed at children and collects nothing about anyone’s age.

Deleting your data

Delete a ride in the app, or delete the Wakeless folder in iCloud Drive and then the app. We hold nothing to delete. To have RevenueCat’s anonymous purchase record removed, write to us with the order ID from your Apple receipt.
